WHAT I STAND FOR

Campaign Initiatives

My Observation

This campaign is the result of 5+ years of community organizing, political contributions, and working in the city of Dallas. Our leaders are complicit in the exploitation of our most vulnerable community members within District 7. They seek to displace historically disenfranchised Black and Brown neighborhoods as they have been for the past 70+ years. According to my observation, these issues are the most critical hurdles that face our District today.

Housing Security

District 7 faces a housing crisis driven by systemic neglect and exploitation, leaving residents vulnerable to gentrification and displacement. Protecting Legacy Homeowners is crucial, as they are the foundation of South Dallas' identity. I will advocate for Homestead Preservation Initiatives to secure funding for home repairs and shield families from predatory developers. Additionally, we must empower renters by defending their rights, promoting tenant organizing, and establishing pathways to homeownership. Together, we can fight exploitation, preserve our community, and build a future where housing is a right, not a privilege.

Public Safety

The overinflated police budget, amplified by Prop U, has not addressed the root causes of crime in District 7. Overpolicing has only led to mass incarceration and strained relationships with first responders. I will vote against any increase to the DPD budget and instead advocate for real solutions to reduce crime: investing in mental healthcare, job opportunities, housing security, environmental justice, mentorship programs, and better access to city resources. By addressing systemic neglect and exploitation, we can create safer, healthier communities without relying on punitive measures.

Fair Park

The Texas State Fair generates $680 million annually and employs thousands, yet the surrounding neighborhoods in District 7 see little benefit. With a median household income of just $44,965—far below the national average—and the displacement of nearly 20,000 residents in under a year, the Fair has become a tool for gentrification and exploitation. Fair Park's history is rooted in racism and land seizures, and the privatization of its operations has only worsened the inequities. District 7 endures the burdens of the Fair, from increased traffic to environmental harm, yet sees no significant investment in return. It’s time to redirect Fair revenues to support the community that sustains it.

Environmental Justice

Environmental justice is critical to the future of District 7. Years of neglect and environmental racism have left South Dallas grappling with illegal dumping, toxic air, polluted water, and poor waste management—issues not seen in more affluent parts of the city. These conditions harm our health, especially our children’s, and perpetuate other community struggles. As an urban environmental activist, I’ve fought for change since 2021, starting in Joppa. In office, I will prioritize a healthier urban ecosystem, demanding justice and creating a cleaner, safer environment for all residents of District 7.

Civic Engagement

District 7 faces a crisis of political disengagement, with total voter turnout plummeting 60% since 2019. This decline weakens our ability to influence decisions and allows predatory investors to exploit our neighborhoods; while elected officials remain complacent or complicit. This campaign is about restoring trust, rebuilding engagement, and inspiring residents to reclaim their political power. Now is the time to wake up, mobilize, and fight for a future where our voices are heard, our neighborhoods are protected, and our communities thrive through collective action and self-determination.
